Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor and our partners at Broadway in Boston, five hundred local kids attended School of Rock at The Boston Opera House on February 20th through the Marilyn Rodman Theatre for Kids program. Based on the cult film and with a rocking new score from Andrew Lloyd Webber, School of Rock follows slacker Dewey Finn as he turns a class of straight–A students into an ear-popping, riff-scorching, all-conquering rock band!
Two weeks later, on March 7th, we sent another five hundred kids to see The Illusionists at The Emerson Colonial Theater. The Illusionists – Live From Broadway has shattered box office records across the globe and dazzles audiences of all ages with a powerful mix of the most outrageous and astonishing acts ever to be seen on stage. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.
Theatre for Kids has introduced the wonder of live Theatre to over 67,000 young people since 2003. Kids and teens with the following nonprofit organizations, public and private schools were among those who attended School of Rock and The Illusionists – Live From Broadway: Boston Public Schools, Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester and Brockton, Canton Public Schools, South Boston Neighborhood House, Epiphany School, Friends of the Children, Key, Milton Public Schools, Randolph Public Schools, RFK Children’s Action Corps, and St. Peter’s Teen Center.
