For the past three years, Schneider Electric has been a vital partner in the success of Rodman for Kids’ largest annual fundraising event, the Ride for Kids, by generously donating the venue. Schneider Electric’s commitment to this partnership goes beyond simply providing a space—it’s a reflection of the company’s values and dedication to making a positive difference in the communities where their employees live and work.
We spoke with Paul Ahearn, Director of Environmental Affairs, and David McMillan, Environmental Manager at Schneider Electric, to learn more about their community-driven approach and what inspires them to collaborate with organizations like Rodman for Kids.
“The impact goes so much further than just supporting one organization.”
Schneider Electric’s decision to partner with Rodman for Kids was an easy one. A staff member and resident of Foxboro suggested collaborating on the next Rodman Ride for Kids, and Paul and David immediately expressed interest. As avid cyclists, they were personally drawn to the event, but more importantly, they saw an opportunity for themselves and Schneider Electric to make a meaningful difference for the thousands of kids impacted by the Ride each year. By hosting the event at no cost to Rodman for Kids, they knew they could help amplify the impact.
“It was a perfect match for us,” Paul said. “It wasn’t even a discussion point when we raised partnering with Rodman for Kids. It was a ‘sure – let’s make it happen.’”
“Our partnership with Schneider Electric means the world to us,” said Rodman for Kids Executive Director, Amy Rossman. “Not only are we fortunate to host our Ride for Kids at this quiet, spacious site for a third year – we get to do so at no cost. This incredible act of generosity directly impacts our ability to invest in brighter futures for kids. Paul, Dave, and the entire Schneider Electric team are incredibly supportive and there for us every step of the way. It is evident they sincerely care about making a difference in our community.”
Schneider Electric also felt a strong desire to give back to the local community, with an office located in Foxboro, MA. “Our company has always recognized that our employees live in these communities, and we want to be sure to help out where they feel it’s needed,” Paul added.
Reflecting on their partnership with Rodman for Kids, both Paul and David shared memorable moments from participating in the Ride.
For Paul, what stood out the most was witnessing the direct involvement of people who work with kids every day. “You see these people who, in their day-to-day lives, are working with kids who are homeless, or don’t have a parent, or have a developmental issue. They’re not only embracing being a part of the Ride, but they’re doing it for these kids that they see every day,” he said.
David highlighted the broad reach of the event: “What struck me most was all of the different charities that are supported by Rodman for Kids. The impact goes so much further than just supporting one organization.”
Both emphasized that the Ride for Kids has an emotional and significant impact that transcends the event itself. “The Ride for Kids has an incredible impact, importance, and emotion behind it, but it goes beyond just the Ride. These people are doing so many other things to support kids in our community,” Paul added.
Looking to the future, Schneider Electric’s partnership with Rodman for Kids remains a cornerstone of their commitment to community service. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across Massachusetts—one Ride for Kids at a time.
