Taking someone with autism to the theater can be a challenge. Many parents face the scenario of spending money to take a chance on going to the theatre as a family, only to have their son/daughter need to leave 20 minutes into the show. When The Arc of South Norfolk Family Autism Center received Newsies tickets through the Marilyn Rodman Theatre for Kids Program, they reached out to families they thought would be interested.
The Theatre for Kids program opens the door to theater, which is all some people need. The Family Autism Center was able to take a small group, including Kiley Martin, into Boston to try the show. It was a tremendous success for her. She has since been to two more Broadway-style shows and this is now an activity that she loves!
