When you give a young person access to new experiences, you do more than entertain them – you show them what’s possible.
That’s what is at the heart of the partnership between Rodman for Kids and Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters (JBBBS). Together, we’re helping youth build confidence, connect with mentors, and explore new paths for their future.
Recently, Lauren Korn, President & CEO of JBBBS, and Tricia Sherman, VP of the Mentorship Program, shared how their work has evolved. What began as a mentorship program for Jewish boys has grown into a dynamic organization serving youth of all backgrounds who face adversity – and thanks to Rodman for Kids, their reach continues to grow.
One of the most transformative tools in that effort? Theatre for Kids.
In one powerful example, a young girl attended a Theatre for Kids performance – and something clicked. Inspired by what she saw on stage, she decided to apply to art school. And she got in! That one moment opened the door to a completely new future.
“The Theatre for Kids program not only gave her access to see theatre that she would never had before, but it’s not just a one time event that she had the opportunity to go see multiple shows, thanks to Rodman for Kids, and really opened her eyes to what could be for herself. And then she was able to bring it into herself and work with her Big Sister to think about what her future could be, and I don’t want to think about a world where she didn’t have this experience.” – Lauren Korn
It’s a powerful reminder of how access and mentorship work hand-in-hand to change lives.
At Rodman for Kids, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to dream big and discover their potential. With partners like JBBBS, we’re not only investing in youth programming, we’re investing in future leaders, artists, thinkers, and changemakers.
