Professional New Years Resolutions

Written by Rodman for Kids’ Executive Director, Amy Rossman

The start of a new year always brings renewed energy after a hectic holiday season. (And while this has already been a long year, we are somehow just 4 weeks into 2026.) Rather than rushing into goals or resolutions, I pause and ask myself what really matters in the work ahead.

After a quarter century in the nonprofit sector, one thing has become clear to me: real impact doesn’t come from a single moment, event, or idea. It comes from showing up consistently, listening carefully, and committing to the long road even when (especially when!) progress feels slow or unseen.

I’m reminded daily that the work we do is bigger than any one organization. Incredible nonprofits across our community support thousands of kids, and those organizations need stability, partnership, and people who will believe in them for the long haul.

My professional New Year’s resolution is more of a re-commitment: continue leading Rodman for Kids with intention, stay grounded in our values, and keep asking how we can be better partners to the people doing the work on the ground.

I’m deeply grateful for the community that has grown around Rodman for Kids- our staff, Charity Partners, supporters, and friends- and I’m excited to keep moving forward together. For the kids.

Here’s to another year of listening, learning, and lasting impact. 💫
