Small Moments, Big Impact: How The Key Program Uplifts Youth and Families Through Rodman for Kids

At The Key Program, small moments are often the spark that lead to lasting change – and many of those moments are made possible through their partnership with Rodman for Kids.

Key’s mission is to assist children and families in developing positive life skills so they can pursue productive and rewarding lives. With residential and community-based programs across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, as well as outpatient clinical and behavioral health services, Key offers a wide-reaching network of support. And through their participation in the Rodman Ride for Kids, they’re able to go even further.

“The funds we raise through the Ride allow us to enhance therapeutic, educational, and recreational opportunities for our youth,” explains Kelly Farrier-Glennon, a leader at The Key Program. “Often times, youth and families don’t have the funds available to be able to participate in these fun activities or after school programs of sports or field trips, and we utilize the funds from Rodman for Kids to help enable these kids to be able to enjoy these activities.”

One example of that support in action? A 14-year-old named Aliyah, who participated in both residential and outreach programs at Key. She was able to attend a special family day at Key’s APEX event – complete with bowling, laser tag, arcade games, and lunch – funded entirely through their Rodman Ride for Kids funds.

“I had fun!” Aliyah said. “I got to spend time with my nieces, my nephews, my sisters… I enjoyed having that time with them.”

For youth who may be navigating instability or emotional challenges, these moments of connection can be transformative.

“It was a great experience for her and I think if the Rodman Ride hadn’t helped with funding that, she wouldn’t have been able to have that experience and build that bond with her family, her siblings,” said Jasmine, Assistant Program Supervisor at Key.

But the impact doesn’t stop there.

Jasmine also shared how their Ride for Kids funds helped another young person pursue a career in welding by purchasing essential equipment. For others, it covered athletic gear so they could join local sports teams.

At Rodman for Kids, we believe in meeting youth where they are – and uplifting them with resources, relationships, and experiences that make a lasting difference. The Key Program is living proof of how that philosophy plays out in real time.
