On Tuesday, June 7th, Rodman for Kids was honored as the non-profit beneficiary of Booty by Brabants’ first in person class of 2022! Granite Links Golf Club hosted and generously donated the venue for the event. DJ Pup Dawg donated his time and kept us pumped up for the entirety of the class!
Booty by Brabants is a size inclusive clothing line with a commitment to contributing more to the world than just apparel. Their workouts have “served as a community platform to give back, raising more than $300,000 for different nonprofit organizations around the world” (Booty by Brabants). With the help of Booty by Brabants, Kelly Brabants, Granite Links, DJ Pup Dawg, and all those who came out to support & donate, we were able to raise $5,000 for our annual Disney for Kids trip.
Fatoumata, a 13-year-old Disney for Kids alum and participant of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester, spoke about the life changing experience she had on the trip in 2018: “The trip was just amazing. Disney is so fun, it’s unreal, but you also get to learn so many lessons about how to take care of yourself because you’re not with your parents. You get to make new relationships, new friendships. It’s just awesome!”
This August, 100 kids from the Dorchester area will embark on a once in a lifetime, all expenses paid weeklong trip to the Orlando theme parks. A trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida is not a necessity, but for kids who have never been on a plane or stayed in a hotel, it is life changing. By gaining independence, making new friends, and visiting the Happiest Place on Earth, kids’ horizons are broadened. Most of all, the kids get to just be kids.
